reading mean comments about my mermaid videos

There are a lot of good sides to enjoying mermaiding as a hobby/profession, but occasionally social media likes to make you rethink all your life choices...

People really do have some nerve saying the things they do on social media.

Over the years I have learned a few tricks to help me navigate these icky waters:
  1. Constantly update your blocked words as new inappropriate or mean comments pop up.
  2. Don't be afraid to block people!!
  3. Have an outlet or someone you can talk to about what you are experiencing on your social media accounts.
  4. Don't take it personally. You never know who you are potentially dealing with, it could be that someone's kid got a hold of their phone and decided to have some fun... It happens more often than you would think. 🙃
  5. Stand up for yourself! If you feel safe to do so, stand up for yourself. There should be consequences for poor behavior online. If you have the means to educate someone then do it. That said, pick your battles. Not everyone is going to give a hoot and there are some people that are better off blocked.
Reading the best MEAN comments I have received so far on my viral Instagram mermaid videos (reels). PIG OF THE SEA is a personal favourite of mine so far. 🙄
Some people genuinely don't have a clue that what they are saying is actually read by a PERSON and that words can hurt.

Remember to put yourself first. Your opinion of you is the only opinion that actually matters at the end of the day so don't take to heart the nasty things people say. (Did I just make a rhyme?)

All that said I hope you found my video entertaining and I look forward to catching you all again in my next one!

Happy Swimming!

So to say these videos were a long time coming would be a pretty big understatement...

Over the last few years, the rise in companies and other creatives stealing from existing creators within the mermaid community has been enormous.

You can't swing a monofin these days without hitting at least 4 or 5 knock off mermaid tails...
I've made two videos in response to some of the more recent drama and I hope you will find them informative and helpful.
Cheap knock off mermaid tails, where they come from, why they suck, and why companies keep ripping us off. This is part 1...
The difference between plagiarism, copying, and inspiration. BUCKLE UP and let's dive in.
There is a difference between plagiarism, copying, and inspiration. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of understanding the difference, especially when you decide to take matters into your own fins...

If you only watch one of the videos, I recommend the "Copy VS Inpso" since I also touch on what you can do to help your favourite creators when their work gets stolen and how to know when it is appropriate to get involved.

Thank you so much to all you beautiful fishes who love my work enough that you choose to stand up for me when you see I'm being taken advantage of. I love and appreciate you all so much!

3 Mermaids Swimming in a Private Pool

Courtney Mermaid's "Tamara" mermaid tail design from her Pirate Dreams collection.
I had the opportunity for a swim with some of my mermaid friends the other day and it was wonderful to get to whip out my Pirate Dreams "Tamara" tail with the new matching top I designed.

I get asked a lot about the tails I swim in as a mermaid and for anyone who may be unaware, I actually make them all myself. 💖

The three tails in today's video were also made my me. The red one (worn by Mermaid Zelda) and the blue one (worn by me) are part of my Pirate Dreams collection and the rainbow koi nicknamed "Fruit Loop" was a custom creation for Ripple the Mermaid.
3 mermaid friends swimming together underwater in a beautiful private pool!
In case you missed it, I have also updated the shop with loads of new goodies and many returning items including the two matching Pirate Dreams tops seen in this video!

I am also excited to announce that these tails will be returning to the shop soon (in limited quantities)!

If you are interested in any of my mermaid tails, custom or predesigned, please visit this page.

Thank you for watching!
