H2O-Inspired Mermaid Tail

Hello my friends and fishes, long time no see on my mermaid blog! 😘

Today I am coming at you with a new post and a new video showcasing my latest mermaid tail creations Moonlight Magic as modelled by the fabulous Mermaid Zelda!

Be sure to watch the video to learn more about how I made this tail and to see it in all its glory out in the ocean and underwater the pool.

I also wanted to do a bit of a throwback to the very first H2O-inspired mermaid tail I made for Nerdmaid Faith!

There are about 5 years and a 100 or so mermaid tails between these two designs and you can definitely see how my craft has developed and improved.

Mermaid Zelda's new tail is my 117th mermaid tail creation and I am extremely proud with how it turned out. I am still really proud of the tail I made for Nerdmaid Faith because it was made at the height of my design/sewing skills at the time. These tails are like two snapshots of my progress across my career and that brings me such joy to see.

​The reason I thought it was important to share the difference time, patience, and practice makes is because I get messages from people where they are upset that their skills aren't where they think they should be.

I'm going to tell you a little secret...

Your skills are exactly where they are supposed to be and it's perfectly OK to be proud of where you are at and to honor the work your create. If you are hoping to improve your skills, it will take time and repetition and you won't get there if you don't accept where you are at right now.

Here is a look at the new Moonlight Magic merfolk top which is now live in my shop!

It is very much inspired by the tops in the shows but I had to make some major adjustments because when working with a predefined pattern, sometimes what you want and what you can achieve are two very different things.

Overall though this top has to be one of my favorites for the little sparkly details and scales that fade out near the shoulders.

I might choose to make this style in a few other colours down the road if you all like it!
