 Mermaid Syphira (@mermaidsyphira on Instagram) recently started a "Draw This in Your Style Challenge" and though I hopped on board right away, I only found the time to sit down and finish it over this last week. I draw all of the time, but rarely do I find an opportunity to draw full mermaids (as opposed to just their tails - haha). I experimented with a different texture for the tail and the eyes. For the body of the tail I wanted to capture the essence of one of those sparkling My Little Ponies. Remember those? The glitter was mixed into the plastic and it gave the coolest effect!  For the eyes I wanted something extra special! I tried my best to give the feeling that they were glowing from the inside without adding a bunch of extra glow.
That thought made more sense in my head... Though I definitely felt a little rusty at the start, I am pleased with how this piece turned out.
