Hey my beautiful little fishes! ♥ In today’s blog post I want to talk to you more about 5 of my favourite, must-have mermaid items to make mermaiding more fun and comfortable! Note: Affiliate links are used which means I receive a small percentage of sales made by them, this helps support my blog and channel. Let’s start with EARPLUGS! If you are like me and suffer from vertigo or other chronic ear conditions or simply don’t like the thought (or feeling) of getting water in your ears all the time, then earplugs are the answer! There are several different kinds on the market and I have tried several of them. I personally really appreciate the moldable silicone ones as they seem to provide me with the most comfortable, well sealed wear. If you don’t feel comfortable with those, there are other kinds to try as well. Here are a few of the others I have tried and liked: Click on the image for more information. Now let’s talk NOSE PLUGS/CLIPS! In reality we would all like to be those perfect mermaids who don’t need to rock a nose clip in our videos and underwater photos, but I hate the feeling of sucking a bunch of pool water up my nose. It’s awful and it burns. So why suffer when you could easily throw on a nose clip whenever you need one! I wear it as a ring if I don’t find myself needing it right away. There are several options here as well: Click on the image for more information. OK my little fishes, now it gets serious. Let’s talk EYE DROPS! Your eyes are a HUGE deal and while it’s fun to see yourself in videos underwater with your eyes open, let’s be real, chlorine BURNS. I personally keep a little bottle of artificial tears as well as eye gel beside the pool whenever I swim. I use a little eye gel before I get in the water to create a bit of a barrier and then once that wears off I use the artificial tears to rinse my eyes out periodically. If things start to get hazy, it means your eyes really need a break from the water and you should either stop or throw on some goggles. Which brings me beautifully to my next favourite thing: GOGGLES! OK you beautiful mers, I know what you are thinking! GOGGLES?! What mer in his or her right mind wears GOGGLES?! Well let me tell you! I’ve been doing this for over ten years now and goggles are a lifesaver and will thoroughly improve your mermaiding experience. If you are just swimming with your pod and having a nice little hang out or practice swim, throw on your goggles! No one is going to judge you and if they do then they don’t know what’s what. You need to save your eyes for a lifetime of mermaiding and you don’t want to ruin them just because it’s fashionable. TRUST ME! I lost my sight for 4 hours once because I didn’t listen to my body when my eyes started to haze over from too much chlorine exposure. It was a terrifying experience and I don’t want you to go through it too. Please listen carefully to your body when it needs you to stop and throw on your goggles or take a break! Here are some of the goggles that I’ve used or am currently using: Click on the image for more information. Lastly, let’s talk monofins! We of course all know that my personal favourite is the magical FINIS Luna! It fits all of my wants and needs. Before you go and buy just any fin on the market, I highly recommend doing your research and making sure you are getting a quality product that has been well tested and it highly rated by the mermaid community. Here are a few popular monofins options: Click on the image for more information. Alright and that is it for this blog post! I hope you found it helpful and if you have any questions or comments, be sure to leave them in the comments section down below and I will do my best to get back to you!
Thank you so much and I look forward to seeing you all in my next post! Happy Swimming!
