FIRST SWIM in My New Realistic MERMAID Tail!

My first swim in Chester 2.0 (henceforth to be referred to as Chester) was magical.

Mermaid Zelda invited me over for a swim at her mum's pool which was so beautiful!

The water was a tad chilly, but it warmed up once we got our fins moving.

I was a bit nervous about how this tail would feel in comparison to the other versions I've made (all of which have had fewer fins, or no extra fins at all). It was definitely heavier, but I actually feel like it benefited my overall form and forced me to slow down and pace myself.

I'm thrilled with how this tail looks, especially underwater. Everything flows together so beautifully and I am really pleased with the overall performance of this tail. 🥰

Don't laugh but I think this might actually be the definitive version of Chester and this may be his final evolution...

That doesn't mean that I will stop making tails, but I do think this will be the final version of THIS tail specifically. That's how happy I am with it. 💖
Now that my new mermaid top is in I'll be able to FINALLY complete my 2022 look!

I'm so happy with how the blending matches from the tail to the top and I really like this style because it creates space for my Ripple's Relics matching necklace.

I was thinking about commissioning a new necklace from Ripple for this tail so that it's predominantly blue but then get a few bright green accents in there as well.

I've also made myself three sets of matching cuffs (not pictured here) because I wasn't sure which I would like best.

It'll take some guessing and testing, but overall I am thrilled with the progress of my 2022 look and I can't wait to get some actual proper photos taken.

Thanks for joining me on this journey so far!

How I Made My Realistic MERMAID TAIL

3/21/2022

I'm thrilled to finally be able to share the final design images for my new mermaid tail as well as all of the making-of footage that I have been collecting over the last few months!

I started working on the concepts and ideas for this tail at the very end of last year (end of November, beginning of December) and I really took my time with the design.

I took this idea in a few different directions (which you will see in the video) and I am so happy that I took the time to explore the many possibilities.

I also made a real effort (as I always do) to create something NEW and unique for my 2022 look. 💚💙
The full process of making a realistic mermaid tail from start to finish INCLUDING the design process in Photoshop! This is the most realistic and detailed mermaid tail I have ever made!
My look as a mermaid has evolved a lot over the years. I've made 3 different green and blue painted tails, 1 first gen printed tail, 2 second gen printed tails, 2 third gen, 1 fourth gen, 1 fifth gen, and 1 sixth gen.

The generations are defined by scales, level of detail, the overall timeline of my work, and the methods in which they were produced.

I picked 3 of the printed tails that I feel best represented me as a mermaid over the last few years to show alongside Chester 2.0 to give a good comparison for the overall journey and evolution my look has taken.

I can't wait to take this tail on its first swim!

I hope you enjoyed this video and the more in depth, behind the scenes look into how my creations are made! Thank you for watching!

REAL Pirates of the Caribbean Mermaid Tails

It's time to full unveil my latest mermaid project and I could not be more excited!!

I have wanted to recreate the mermaid tails from Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides for YEARS and I have finally done it!

These mermaids had a substantial influence on me in the earlier days of my mermaid career and I have thought often of how I would create these tails if I were ever given the opportunity.

Well I went out and made myself the opportunity!

Instead of just duplicating what the film had already brought to life, I tried to recreate a feeling instead. To be more specific I wanted to recreate a very specific feeling I get when I listen to the music that plays when the pirates meet the mermaids for the first time. Pure. Magic.

I knew I was going to want to offer multiple colours so I took all of the colours that make up the CG designs and spread them across three designs, each with their own subtle differences.

Each tail has an energy, something I could feel while working away at my Cintiq. The red tail (Syrena) has a lighter energy, more pure. The green tail (Marina) has a strong energy, and the blue tail (Tamara) has a fierce, dark energy.

It took my about 3 months to perfect the design and I must have tried every combination of fins, flukes, stripes, patterns, sparkles, EVERYTHING, you could possible imagine. I very nearly gave up at a few points when things were starting to get really challenging, but I'm so glad I didn't!

I created this design with the Fish Fin (by Mermaid Lucia) in mind because I felt like it was the perfect canvas to help bring this design to life.

These tails were a gift to me from the universe it felt like towards the end of their production. Like all of the stress, tears, and struggles, suddenly made sense. It has lead me to this magical moment and the best part is that I get to share it all with you.

I was just a little mermaid with a big dream when this movie came out. I didn't know how I would make mermaid magic happen at the time, but I knew it WOULD HAPPEN one day. That day is TODAY.

For all of the details about this upcoming shop launch, please make sure you watch the video all the way through and click HERE to view the full product list and price guide.

Thank you so much for reading/watching!

Real Mermaid Spotted at the Lake at Night

This was such an amazing night time adventure. I've been getting a lot of questions asking how cold it was, but it wasn't cold at all. The footage for this video was actually taken back at the end of August on a super hot and humid day (despite the overcast sky and the fact that the sun was setting).

To be totally honest, it was warm enough that I could have stayed out there for much longer than I did but we had an appointment to pick up something for Eric's car.
The tail was made by me for the Mertailor Fantasea monofin (the original one). I do not offer custom tails for this monofin, this was one I made for myself because the shape was just too perfect for a Siren-inspired mermaid tail.

Thank you for watching! Don't forget to subscribe and I'll see you in the next one!
