1. General & Safety
- Swimming with a mermaid tail can be dangerous and should never be done alone or without the supervision of someone who can help you should you need it.
- SVM is in no way liable for any injuries or damages that may occur in or out of the water while using one of our tails or other products.
2. Communication and Confidentiality
2a. Communication
- Email and Slack are the preferred methods of communication regarding mermaid tails. Therefore any and all communication regarding mermaid tails (contracts, payments, design, production, shipping, etc) will be done via email (vancouvermermaid@gmail.com) and our Slack messaging system (which the Client will receive an invite to).
- We operate Monday to Friday and are in Pacific Time. If an email or message is received over a holiday or the weekend, unless urgent, it will be replied to the following business day.
- Any and all documentation and information in regards to how SVM mermaid tails are made, including any proprietary systems, forms, emails and other information shared between SVM and the Client is strictly confidential and is not to be reproduced or redistributed in any way.
3. Deposit, Ordering Process, and Waitlist
- Upon receiving the Client's Mermaid Tail Application Form it will be reviewed and if the Client is selected, the Client will receive an email confirmation with a quote for the design and production of the Client's mermaid tail, excluding shipping. Submitting the application form does not guarantee the acceptance and production of a mermaid tail.
- The Client will then receive an invoice for the $50CAD (non-refundable deposit) which must be paid immediately to ensure the Client's place on the waitlist. When the Client's turn arrives, $50CAD will be deducted from the total design fee. The $50CAD is non-refundable and will not be returned to the Client if they choose not to proceed with their mermaid tail order.
- SVM reserves the right turn down any applications for any reason including but not limited to scheduling conflicts, design capabilities, etc.
- After submitting the application, the Client will be placed on the waitlist and when a slot opens up they will be contacted and an invoice will be sent to the PayPal email provided and the Client will have 48 hours to submit the payment before the next person in line is contacted and the Client will lose their slot. If more time is needed, please email vancouvermermaid@gmail.com at that point at let us know and we will move you down the list.
4. Payment & Shipping
- All prices listed for our mermaid tails and matching apparel are in CAD (Canadian Dollars) and all payments will be made through PayPal invoice (no exceptions).
- SVM reserves the right to modify prices listed at any time without prior notice.
- The quote received will be based on the information provided in the application form. If determined that the form was inaccurate, the Client will be made aware and additional fees may apply. An example of this is if the Client selected same front and back but actually wanted the front body to be a lighter colour.
- The quote is paid in two parts: the first part is for the design of the tail and the second part is for the production of the tail.
- The shipping quote will be provided at the end of the production process and must be paid in full before the tail will be shipped.
- Mermaid tails are shipped (insured and requiring a signature) via Canada Post Xpresspost.
- The Client is responsible for all shipping fees and related import fees.
- SVM does not ship to P.O. boxes and any special instructions must be confirmed prior to shipping.
- Shipping times will vary due to things like global situations, customs, missed flights, or anything of that nature.
5. Timeline and Deadlines
- How long it takes to complete a mermaid tail is directly reflective of how quickly the Client's payments and measurements are received, how quickly the Client communicates via email/Slack, the accessibility of materials, global situations, and printing wait times.
- Rush options are not available for custom orders at this time.
6. Sizing and Measurements
- Mermaid tails will require the Client to provide their outline and/or a specific set of body measurements. Step by step instructions will be given on how to do this.
- It is the Client's responsibility to submit accurate measurements and select their most appropriate sizes via our size chart (provided).
- Please make sure to review the accuracy of any measurements provided.
- Fabric tails have a tendency to sit higher up on the torso due to the stretch factor. This is the preferred placement as it avoids excess gaping while swimming and provides a more comfortable and secure experience.
- SVM is not responsible for incorrect measurements or sizes provided and confirmed by the Client.
7. Appearances and Design
- Printed mermaid tails will look different than their digital versions due to a number of factors including (but not limited to): screen resolution, Pantone colours available, variables in the printing process, and artistic variables during the sewing process etc.
- SVM is not liable for variables that occur between the digital version and the final product, including any photos of the in-progress or final product.
- If it is determined that the original design fee quote is inaccurate due to the request of additional details or fins, a follow up invoice with the remainder of the design fee will be sent and must be paid immediately before the process may continue.
- SVM reserves the right to make any design adjustments that may override the wishes of the Client where it may improve the overall look and design and/or make it easier to print/sew.
8. Cancellations and Refunds
- SVM reserves the right to cancel a Client's mermaid tail order for reasons including but not limited to: poor communication, harassment, or general poor behavior by the Client. Refund availability will depend on the stage at which the cancellation occurred. Refunds are not given for work that has already been done.
- Refunds are not available for the initial $50CAD deposits.
- Refunds are not available for mermaid tails with the sole exception being if SVM cancels the Client's order due to one or all of the above-mentioned reasons.
- Mermaid tails, matching apparel, cuffs, and arm fins are a final sale and are non-refundable given the nature of the work.
- If, after the design has been completed for the mermaid tail, the Client decides not to have the final tail produced, and email must be sent to us that states the Client does not want the tail production completed and we will end the transaction at that point. This does not give the Client a refund for the design of their tail.
9. Photographs and Images
- Concept art as well as any and all photographs taken by SVM, including work-in-progress photos and photos of the finished product may be posted to SVM AKA Courtney Mermaid's website and social media, or may also be used for promotional material.
- SVM prohibits the redistribution of in-progress photographs, video, or any other like media to any social media outlets, including public or private websites.
- SVM reserves the right to share work-in-progress and final images (during and after production), including reference images shared with their online following on their various platforms.
