1. General & Safety
- Swimming with a mermaid tail can be dangerous and should never be done alone or without the supervision of someone who can help you should you need it.
- SVM is in no way liable for any injuries or damages that may occur in or out of the water while using one of our tails or other products.
2. Communication & Confidentiality
2a. Communication
- Email is the preferred method of communication regarding mermaid tails. Therefore any and all communication regarding mermaid tails (contracts, payments, design, production, shipping, etc) will be done via email (vancouvermermaid@gmail.com).
- We operate Monday to Friday and are in Pacific Time. If an email is received over a holiday or the weekend, unless urgent, will be replied to the following business day.
- Any and all documentation and information in regards to how SVM mermaid tails are made, including any proprietary systems, forms, emails and other information shared between SVM and the Client is strictly confidential and is not to be reproduced or redistributed in any way.
3. Ordering Process & Waitlist
- Upon receiving your Mermaid Tail Application Form, it will be reviewed and you will receive an email confirmation with a quote for the design and production of your mermaid tail, excluding shipping.
- SVM reserves the right turn down any applications for any reason including but not limited to scheduling conflicts, design capabilities, etc.
- Mermaid tail production occurs only during the mermaiding "off-season" which is between October and April and there is a waitlist system in place.
- After submitting your application, you will be placed on the waitlist and when a slot opens up you will be contacted to check in. You will have 24 hours to confirm you are ready to receive you invoice. Once confirmed, an invoice will be sent to the PayPal email you provided and you will have 48 hours to submit your payment before the next person in line is contacted and you will lose your slot. If you know you will need more time, please email vancouvermermaid@gmail.com at that point at let us know and we will move you down the list.
4. Payment & Shipping
- All prices listed for our mermaid tails and matching apparel are in CAD (Canadian Dollars) and all payments will be made through PayPal invoice (no exceptions).
- SVM reserves the right to modify prices listed at any time without prior notice.
- The quote you receive will be based on the information you provided in your application form. If determined that your form was inaccurate, you will be made aware and additional fees may apply. An example of this is if you selected same front and back but actually wanted the front body to be a lighter colour.
- The quote is paid in two parts: the first part is for the design of your tail and the second part is for the production of your tail.
- The shipping quote will be provided at the end of the production process and must be paid in full before the tail will be shipped.
- Mermaid tails are shipped (insured and require a signature) via Canada Post.
- The Client is responsible for all shipping fees and related import fees.
- SVM does not ship to P.O. boxes and any special instructions must be confirmed prior to shipping.
- Shipping times will vary due to things like global situations, customs, missed flights, or anything of that nature.
5. Deadlines
- How long it takes to complete a mermaid tail is directly reflective of how quickly the Client's payments and measurements are received, how quickly the Client communicates via email, the accessibility of materials, global situations, and printing wait times.
6. Sizing and Measurements
- Mermaid tails will require you to provide your outline and/or a specific set of body measurements. Instructions will be given on how to do this.
- It is the Client's responsibility to submit accurate measurements and select their most appropriate sizes via our size chart (provided).
- Please make sure to review the accuracy of any measurements provided.
- Fabric tails have a tendency to sit higher up on the torso due to the stretch factor. This is the preferred placement as it avoids excess gaping while swimming and provides a more comfortable and secure experience.
- SVM is not responsible for incorrect measurements or sizes confirmed by you.
7. Appearances and Design
- Printed mermaid tails will look different than their digital versions due to a number of factors including (but not limited to) screen resolution, Pantone colours available, variables in the printing process, and artistic variables during the sewing process etc.
- SVM is not liable for variables that occur between the digital version and the final product, including any photos of the in-progress or final product.
- If it is determined that the original design fee quote is inaccurate due to the request of additional details or fins, a follow up invoice with the remainder of the design fee will be sent and must be paid immediately before the process may continue.
8. Cancellations & Refunds
- SVM reserves the right to cancel a Client's mermaid tail order for reasons including but not limited to: poor communication, harassment, or general poor behavior by the Client. Refund will depend on the stage at which the cancellation occurred. Refunds are not given for work that has already been done.
- If you decide you wish to cancel your order, you may do so only before work begins.
- Mermaid tails are a final sale and are non-refundable given the nature of the work.
- If, after the design has been completed for your tail, you decide not to have the final tail produced, please send us an email that states you do not want the tail production completed and we will end your transaction at that point. This does not give you a refund for the design of your tail.
9. Photographs and Images
